Frequently Asked Questions
1) I’ve never skied or snowboarded before where should I start?
First – take a lesson. You will be amazed at what you will learn and all the little things that make this fun! Don’t let your friends teach you! Our experience is that those who take lessons love the sport and those who are taught by friends, however well meaning, become very frustrated and spend much more time learning basics or developing bad habits. We can assist you in setting up your ski/snowboard lesson. We make no money from the lessons but feel it is a key to you becoming a skier or snowboarder.
Second – rent your equipment. Don’t waste your money buying gear at this point. You will be improving at a rapid rate that will require your equipment to change as you improve. Don’t borrow equipment either. Boots need to fit and the skis/snowboards need to be of the right ability and size.
Rent an upgraded package such as the Performance Package even for first time skiers/boarders. This gets you better boots, skis/snowboards that will be more comfortable, and thus lets you learn faster with less effort.

2) What other stuff is available to rent other than skis and snowboards?

9) I’ve heard that Winter Park has world-class skiing and moguls. What does that mean?
Winter Park Resort has some of the best skiing in the world and it’s a combination of things that contribute to this world-class environment.
First off, we get a lot of snow. Some 365 inches per year! Most people think that all resorts get the same amount of snow and that just isn’t the case. No major resort in Colorado gets more snow! Due to the high elevation, lots of trees and exposure to the sun, our snow quality stays good for a long time. The quality of the snow is phenomenal!
Secondly, the resort is laid out very well. It’s easy to get around, with few lift lines and lots of terrain. And then there is the Mary Jane, the southern mountain of the resort, home of the best moguls on earth and some of the finest tree skiing anywhere! This is skiing like no other.
Oh, and don’t forget our very friendly town. No attitude, hype etc. Great eats, great people in a laid back atmosphere. It just feels like you're right at home up here!
